| Vladimir M. Nikolaev was born in 1931 in Russia. He received the degrees
of Diploma Candidate of Sciences (Ph.D.) in 1964 and Doctor of Sciences
in 1978, both in radiophysics, from the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute
(now the St. Petersburg State Technical University).
From 1956 he had been associated with the St. Petersburg State Technical University. In 1980-83 he was the Head of the Radiophysics Department. From 1983 till 1987 V.M. Nikolaev was the Vice-Rector of the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute responsible for scientific research. In 1987-1991 he was the Director of the Scientific Research Institute of Robotics and Cybernetics of the Polytechnic Institute. From 1991 V.M. Nikolaev was the Director of the the Radiophysics Department of the SPbSTU. He was also the Chairman of two dissertation councils and Director of the Radiophysics Laboratory. V.M. Nikolaev was vice-chairman of the scientific council "Electromagnetic wave propagation" of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Professor V.M. Nikolaev died on 07.08.2002. |
